Description

A standard issue vessel to the highest ranks of the Saint-Roumain Militia. While “standard”, this class of vessel is unique to the Montagne that owns it. Each ship is designed around a central garden consisting of plants, soil, and a tree from the owning Montagnes’ home planet. As a highly religious ascetic order, the SRM supplies each Elder with supplies to farm, raise animals, and perform medicine in more “natural” ways, using herbs and plants grown in house. The ship is captained by a Montagne, who oversees a team of Hunters, and Shadows apprenticing them.

Introduction

A flying garden, the Elder-class carries a large atrium and a large crew of the Saint-Roumain Militia. The Elder-class and other SRM ships are unique in their technology, preferring natural tools and medicines. While the Elder has a infirmary, it largely focuses on medicinal herbs, alcohol, and the SRM's trickwines.

The Elder has minimal technology onboard, opting for torches instead of traditional lighting. Additionally, most equipment is in the bridge and engineering, aside from an autolathe in the storage room.

List of standard equipment and features

  • A large atrium, with botany and brewing equipment.
  • A Montagne's Oak, which grows unique "Illestren Apples" that can be ground for bacteria used in brewing.
  • An armory with 3 lever-action and 3 bolt-action hunting rifles.
  • An infirmary with medicinal herbs and surgery table. (However, there is no operating computer for surgery instructions)

Gameplay

Hunting

The Elder-class is well equipped for hunting and foraging on planets. Along with plenty of hunting rifles in the armory, Montagnes and Collignes have their own revolvers, as well as a cleaving saw. The cargo bay has six EVA suits, and enough pickaxes, shovels, and ore boxes to make the Elder very well equipped for mining and excavation.

Trickwines

Saint-Roumain ships are uniquely equipped to make special brews called "Trickwines". Trickwines are made in a special distillery filled with Illestren bacteria, and stored in breakaway flasks. Breakaway flasks can be used to drink brewed Trickwines for positive effects, or thrown to break against the target and give special debuffs.

Trickwines are brewed using an alcohol base along with a handful of ingredients, typically herbs or animal parts. The ship's atrium starts with seeds for growing some of the herbs used in brewing, with others being foraged from planets. Initially, the ship starts with two Trickwines:

  • Vintage Wine of Ash: When drank, has a high hallucinogenic and alcoholic strength, as well as minor toxin healing. When thrown, stuns and drugs the target, also works on wildlife.
  • Vintage Wine of Ice: When drank, cools down the user to their regular body temperature, as well as minor burn healing. When thrown, freezes the target; lowering their body temperature, paralyzing them, and freezes them in an ice cube.

More information on Trickwines and their recipes can be found in a manual on the ship near the distillery.
