The Scarab-class is a recently-introduced heavy drilling ship built by Hardline Salvage and Mining. Inspired by Hardline's earlier work on the Talos-class refits, the Scarab comes with heavy drilling equipment and facilities for a number of technicians and hired guards instead of the hand-mining equipment typically found on smaller ships. Extra space for storage or potential remodeling lends the Scarab a degree of flexibility few of its peers can afford.

"The Scarab is a new fancy design made for spacers who want to see real profits, unlike with those other mining vessels on the market."

Introduction
The Scarab is a quirky type mining ship, focusing on deep mining with the use of drills over the more manual form of shaft mining. To aid that goal, it comes with plenty engineering and security equipment. The Scarab's port wing also offers plenty of space for construction projects once cleared up, which grants bored technicians plenty of potential work.
List of standard equipment and features:
- A heavy-duty laser mining drill.
- Strong weaponry - an SA Cobra-20, an HP Hellfire and two HP Detective Specials.
- A functional smelter setup.
- Two angle grinders.
- Plenty of engineering equipment.
- A maintenance area perfect for construction projects.
Gameplay
- Drilling - Main purpose of this ship is mining using the drills. This means going around, looking for ore veins, extracting them and killing fauna. While the Scarab comes with it's own drill, it is smart to take on some outpost drilling contracts too, as they can net you the much-needed money.
- Salvaging - The vessel is also equipped with a couple angle grinders that allow it to salvage derelicts for extra materials.
- Construction - Scarab's left wing contains a maintenance area - with sufficient effort, it can be cleaned up and transformed into something fun. Maybe a bar, maybe a medical bay. Sky's the limit!
